Tailored Internal Controls
According to the ACFE’s Report to the Nations on Occupational Fraud and Abuse, small business entities (fewer than 100 employees) suffer losses as large as our nation’s large businesses on average of $150,000! And our nation’s CFE’s estimate that the typical organization loses 5% of their revenues a year due to fraud.
Though small businesses are most susceptible to fraud, they also have the most to lose, as they often have limited resources to absorb the losses. They also have the least internal controls implemented – controls that are shown to both lower fraud losses and provide quicker detection of fraud.
Waypoint Partners, PLLC, is committed to our community and our local businesses and can help you design internal controls specific to your business type, size, and situation. These controls can help you reduce the ability of a fraudster to target your business. An assessment of your internal controls will help you implement processes to prevent fraud from occurring in the first place.
Fraud Examination
Your business is valuable, and we are able to identify the warning signs that may indicate evidence of fraud. The Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) is a credential awarded by the Association of Certified Fraud Examiners (ACFE). CFEs are part of the world’s largest anti-fraud organization, trained to conduct investigations of fraud cases. Our CFE employees combine knowledge of complex financial transactions, fraud risk assessment, and analysis of financial data to investigate, detect, and prevent fraud.
Fraud examination provides the assistance and protection within a company, helping to uncover fraud, determine how extensive the damage is, and assistance with accounting for and reporting of the financial information regarding fraud. Our work includes the examination of financial statements, detail examination of accounting and financial records, fraud risk assessment, fraud prevention programs, and internal control testing and implementation.
